Ian Gray lives in London, Ontario. Painting is one of his many passions. In 2007, he tried his hand at Acrylics, after several years of working with watercolours. More recently palette knives have been added to his tool kit. Acrylics have proven to be a good medium for Ian's bold, strong form style of painting.
Ian grew up on a farm near Indian Head, Saskatchewan. His love of the dramatic skies and the wide open spaces of the prairies shows up in many of his paintings. His family is filled with accomplished “Prairie Landscape Artists”, with his grandfather, mother, father and two sisters all taking up the brush. More recently his daughter has started painting.
Having recently retired, Ian can now pursuing his art full time. In 2023, he tried his hand at stone carving by attending a workshop offered by Manuel Palos in Puerta Vallarta. He owes the use of palette knife to Jose Baldi, whom he has taken several classes from in Puerta Vallarta.
